“These are the roots of rhythm and the roots of rhythm remain”

The Paul Simon Bone Diggers are an all-star collective of Bay Area jammers who come together on special occasions for deep dive through Paul Simon’s catalog, taking the songs out for extended journeys and explorations. Their rare shows have always been packed celebrations of music and song and so, in the early fall of 2019, the band ventured to the midwest for their first out of state tour — a Colorado run that kicked off at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail on August 27.

With a fluid lineup, the group welcomed Trey Anastasio Band’s Jennifer Hartswick and Thievery Corporation's Jeff Franca for the entire run (later joined for two nights by Hartswick’s TAB bandmate James Casey), bolstering the core lineup of Lebo (ALO), Reed Mathis (Billy & the Kids, Electric Beethoven), Scott Rager (TLG) and Danny Eisenberg (Mother Hips).

The Vail show was dedicated to Neal Casal, whose sudden death just one day earlier shook up the band, all of whom individually counted Neal as a friend. Many memories were shared backstage that night.

Thus, Bone Diggers would like to present this show as a $6.99 stream with all proceeds benefiting Backline, a nonprofit that connects musicians, crews and their families with mental health services that might not be available to them otherwise.

And with all of the things going on in the country this month, testing all of our mental health, count on these songs and this music to be your bridge over troubled water — may it ease your mind.
